History

MEDICAL CENTER MARKOVS was established 20 years ago as a family venture of Dr. Dimiter Markov and Dr. Peter Markov. From the very beginning it was set up as a small boutique medical center equipped with high-tech ultrasound equipment, specialized in the field of prenatal diagnosis and gynecological oncology. Prof. Dr. Donka Baykova, the doyen of the Bulgarian nutrition and dietetics, also participated as an active member of the center since the very beginning of its establishment.

Dr. Elena Pavlova and Dr. Dilyana Atanasova, at that time young specialists with interests in the field of prenatal diagnosis, 3D/4D ultrasound and gynecological oncology, joined the team of MC MARKOVS in 2009 and 2011, respectively.

Over the years, MC MARKOVS gradually grew out as a medical center providing high-tech evidence based medicine. Moreover, it also emerged as a scientific cornerstone for constant academic development and growth. Eventually, the vast majority of health professionals working in MC MARKOVS defended a Ph.D. thesis in various medical disciplines.

The team of doctors from MC MARKOVS was a major driving force in the foundation of the Bulgarian Association of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology (BAUOG) established in 2006. The medical specialists from MC MARKOVS have always been among the leading speakers in all training courses organized by BAUOG, which are currently more than fifteen. At present, Prof. Dimiter Markov and Dr. Elena Pavlova are active members of the Managing Board of Directors of BAUOG.

The team of MC MARKOVS is a pioneer and organizer of the highly specialized training courses for 3D/4D ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology under the auspices of the Vienna International School of Ultrasound (VISUS). Recently, the IV-th VISUS course organized by MC MARKOVS was held in Sofia.

In the beginning of 2022 MC MARKOVS moved into a new modern building in Sofia. It has seven floors, many patient consultation rooms, two operating theaters, five one-day patient recovery rooms, a conference hall, etc. All consultation rooms are spacious and equipped with high-tech medical equipment. At present, more than 25 experienced doctors from different medical specialties and various prestigious hospitals work at MC MARKOVS. Our true commitment is to constantly expand our range of medical services and activities in an atmosphere of teamwork and professionalism.
