ProlapLase®
ProlapLase® is Fotona's non-invasive Er:Yag laser therapy that is used to safely and non-invasively treat pelvic organ prolapse.
Precisely controlled laser-induced photo-thermal effects in the vaginal mucosa tissue stimulate collagen remodeling and the synthesis of new collagen fibers.
This causes the vaginal canal to shrink and tighten.
ProlapLase® therapy is a fast, non-hormonal, non-surgical, innovative procedure with high efficiency. At MC MARKOVS, it is carried out through Fotona's high-tech laser system NX Dynamis.
The main advantage of Fotona's ProlapLase® procedure is that it is performed in an outpatient setting (in the office) - painless, without ablation, without surgical incision, without bleeding and without sutures. Recovery is extremely fast, without the need to use analgesics and antibiotics.
Fotona's ProlapLase® is a safe and non-invasive alternative to traditional surgical treatment methods. The procedure is particularly effective in mild and moderate degrees of pelvic organ prolapse, but can also be used in cases with a higher degree of genital prolapse.
For more information about the possibilities for diagnosis and treatment of your problems related to the prolapse of the pelvic organs, you can call MC MARKOVS. The center has excellently trained AG specialists and modern Fotona laser medical equipment. These are necessary prerequisites for an accurate and precise assessment of your condition and planning of correct and adequate treatment.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is pelvic organ prolapse?
Pelvic organ prolapse occurs when the muscles and tissues of the pelvic floor are weakened or damaged. This, in turn, causes the pelvic organs (bladder, uterus, colon, or rectum) to move out of their normal position. Almost half of all women who have given birth naturally experience some form and degree of genital prolapse.
What is ProlapLase®?
ProlapLase® is a laser treatment that strengthens vaginal tissue and improves the symptoms of pelvic organ prolapse. It is a non-invasive, safe and quick way to improve your quality of life.
What is the mechanism of action?
Laser pulses are delivered through the vagina to the problematic prolapsed areas and to the entire surface of the vaginal canal. The pulses are specially designed to produce a mild heating effect. This stimulates the formation of new collagen while tightening and strengthening the treated tissue. In this way, the degree of prolapse decreases and unpleasant clinical symptoms are reduced.
What is the procedure?
ProlapLase® is designed to cause minimal discomfort and is well tolerated by patients. A special laser applicator is inserted into the vagina. The vaginal canal is then treated with thermal laser pulses. The treatment is non-invasive and allows immediate resumption of normal daily activities. There is no need for subsequent treatment with analgesics or antibiotics. The procedure lasts about 30 minutes. Depending on the severity of the prolapse, a total of 3 to 5 sessions at an interval of one month are recommended.
Who is it for?
ProlapLase® is an innovative laser procedure that is an effective alternative to surgery, vaginal pessary placement and other surgical options (often causing complications). The method is most effective in treating mild and moderate degrees of prolapse. It can also be used in severe cases of prolapse, delaying the need for surgery.
When should I expect results?
Clinical observations show that ProlapLase® is an effective and safe non-invasive treatment option for pelvic organ prolapse. A significant reduction in the average degree of prolapse was observed after the first treatment session. Efficiency is improved with additional procedures.
