Vaginal Wet Smear
Microscopic examination of vaginal discharge (vaginal "wet smear") requires mixing of some material obtained from the vagina or the cervical canal with normal saline on a glass slide which is afterwards examined under a microscope.
The method is quite simple. It does not require any special fixation or staining.
It is carried out quickly and easily - during a standard gynecological examination (in outpatient settings).
The gathered information can be used to specify some of the inflammatory diseases of the vagina.
Тhe sample can also be sent for additional microbiological testing in a specialized laboratory, upon request.
For more information about the possibility of performing a vaginal wet smear during the standard gynecological examination at MC MARKOVS you can contact your doctor or call at the registration desk.
