Diathermocoagulation
Diathermocoagulation (DTC) of the cervix is a therapeutic procedure during which with the help of a special ball-like electrode, the surface layer of the affected area of the cervix is burned.
The manipulation is performed under local or general anesthesia by a specialist doctor - gynecologist.
Prior performing diathermocoagulation, verbal and written explanations are given in advance regarding the nature of the procedure.
A written informed consent from the patient is mandatory.
Indications for DTC are different:
- The presence of low-risk changes in the cells of the cervical mucosa, proven by histological examination from a previously performed targeted biopsy;
- Large area ectopy ("wound") of the cervix associated with profuse vaginal bleeding;
- Chronic vaginal discharge;
- Vaginal bleeding after intercourse.
